Waiting for Snow To Come

Up this high above, the snowflakes blow just how they will.
They’re just starting to gather, upon my windowsill.
There’s a person all bundled up, about a block away.
If I could ask him where he’s goin’ I wonder what he’d say?
And now the gray is moving in, the blue skies on the run.

Chorus:
And I’m looking out this hotel window waiting for snow to come.
Somewhere in Cleveland, waiting for snow to come.

It’s been the warmest winter around these parts they say.
There hasn’t been a snow yet, but one might be on the way.
Want someone to understand the thoughts that are in my mind.
I want someone to see the picture that I’ll leave behind.
But I should know nobody wins a race before they’ve run.

Chorus

A flag blows in the plaza but I don’t know what it’s for.
I’ve waited for awhile now, I guess I’ll wait some more.
There’s some kind of show down there, I guess I ought to go.
There’s so many things I think that I’m supposed to know.
Instead most of the time I find, I’m just blind, deaf, and dumb.
And I’m looking out this hotel window waiting for snow to come.
Somewhere in Cleveland, waiting for snow to come.
Here by this window, waiting for snow to come.
